I don't think teaching students to use a proxy site to "outsmart" the blocks is necessarily a good thing... Laura makes some fantastic points in her letter to the editor, and schools should be more creative about teaching students safety on the internet instead of banning what they fear- however, promoting proxy sites and encouraging students to break the rules can't be a positive thing. Changes should be made, alas it must go the "proper" route and start with those leading the schools and libraries. Teaching kids to weasel around the bans will only give those in authority more reason to ban these sites, and no reasons to give them a chance.

Hi Laura,

This is COMPLETELY off topic but I just learned this tidbit and thought I'd share it with you. Did you know you can access your Dominican N drive from off-campus?? The instructions on how to do it are on page 6 of this document. I learned this a little too late for me but if you ever have a use for a portable drive, you've already got one! And if any place qualifies as off-campus, Wyoming is it!

OK well that's all.
