I rarely pay any attention to Twitter trending topics, but I did during the NBA playoffs (that's professional basketball, Laura ;) ). Normally my Twitterati are almost all librarians, so it was bizarre and wonderful to click on the trending topic for "kobe" or whatever and see all these team-boosting, trash-talking basketball fans and watch the tweets come and go with the flow of the game. Also the demographics for people who want to tweet about basketball are much more diverse than for librarians.
